National Mental Health in the Workplace Initiative

The National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Lebanon launched the National Mental Health in the Workplace Initiative in 2019 in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO). This initiative encourages employers to take concrete steps to protect, promote, and support mental health in the workplace.

Grounded in the National Mental Health Strategy (2024–2030), WHO's Guidelines on Mental Health at Work, and Policy Brief, it provides evidence-based actions that strengthen employee wellbeing while improving organizational culture and performance.

Why Mental Health in the Workplace Matters

Workplaces influence how we feel every day. When mental health is prioritized, workplaces not only protect people from stress and discrimination — they also unlock higher performance, motivation, and loyalty. Studies show that supportive environments enhance creativity and inclusion, demonstrating that caring for mental health strengthens both workplaces and societies. Creating mentally healthy workplaces is not just a responsibility, but also an investment in people, organizations, and Lebanon’s future.
